Product Details
TA recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for reliability in the garden, Colchicum cilicicum ‘Purpureum’ is a cormous perennial that flowers in the autumn with open funnel-shaped, rosy purple flowers.
The long, narrow leaves will appear in spring, and will then die off the following summer, encouraging the flowers to bloom in the autumn.
This compact ‘Purpureum’ bulb is perfect for naturalising to enjoy flowers year after year in wild gardens, rockeries and between shrubs. It can also be used in pots or window boxes to provide some offseason colour.
A member of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, this variety is perfect for attracting bees and other large pollinators into the garden.
This bulb is best planted 8cm deep and around 15cm apart, in full sun or partial shade and will grow in a wide range of soils, provided there is good drainage.
