Watering Wisely This Summer
With a dry summer so far, it is important we are thinking about our garden watering routines, to make sure they are wise, and saving water where we can!
Here are some of our top tips for watering your plants and gardens wisely this summer:
Mulch Your Soil
Add a layer of organic mulch to the top of your soil. This helps keep the ground cooler and locks in moisture, so your plants need less watering.
Grab a Watering Can
Watering by hand is completely unrestricted during a hosepipe ban and directs water straight to the roots, where plants need it more.
Drip Irrigation Systems
You can still use automated drip systems! To meet local guidelines, your setup just needs a timer and a pressure-reducing valve to deliver water drip-by-drip to the soil without spraying the air.
Collect Rainwater
Setting up a water butt means free, nutrient-rich water for your pots and borders all summer long.
