An upstanding garden classic this is a floral accent plant, a deciduous perennial (herbaceous) has tall, elegant cones of scented red flowers in Summer. It has green whorled leaves.
It likes sun, well drained soil and is happy in acid (ericaceous) or neutral soil. It is frost hardy.
