Product Details

Our multi-purpose compost contains a special blend of plant nutrients and trace elements that are ideal for plants at all stages of growth throughout the year. It’s simple. Use straight from the bag, there is no need to add any other materials.

This product is made from 100% peat. The peat is produced to environmentally responsible standards that fully protect surrounding areas under conservation management and maximise the potential conservation after use.

Note: This compost is not suitable for acid loving plants such as Azaleas and Rhododendrons. These plants need a specially formulated Ericaceous compost.

Watering:
Our compost contains a special wetting agent that will help absorb water. Not only does the wetting agent allow water to be easily absorbed when watering, it also maintains water within the compost, keeping the compost moist during drier periods. It is important not to leave plants standing in water for long periods of time.

Feeding:
Our compost contains enough plant nutrients to feed for up to 6 weeks, after which additional feeding will be needed. This is easily done when you water regularly.

Seeds:
Simply fill a seed tray with our multi purpose compost. Level the surface with a hand or ruler, firming in lightly, and apply water with a fine rose to moisten the compost. Sow the seeds thinly and evenly following the instructions on the seed packet. Finally, cover with glass or polythene or a propagator top to retain moisture. When the seedlings are big enough to be transplanted, remember to always hold seedlings by their leaves and never by the stem.

Cuttings:
It is vital that cuttings are only taken from healthy plants to enable them to develop into thriving specimens. To help even further and enhance the growth, rooting powder can be applied to the roots. Choose the necessary container or pot, and firm the cuttings into the compost. Remember to water the compost thoroughly. To retain the water, cover with a clear polythene bag or propagator top. It is important to keep cuttings in a warm place that is out of direct sunlight.

Potting:
Choose the necessary size of pot in relation to your flower/plant and partly fill the pot with our multi purpose compost. Position the plant in the centre and fill in around the plant with the remaining compost. Finally, firm lightly and water.

Hanging Baskets:
Choose your desired hanging basket, basket lining and plants. We recommend Fuchsias, Petunia, Lobelia, Geraniums and Ivy Leaved Geraniums. Place the hanging basket on a saucer for stability and cover the inside with basket lining. Fill with our multipurpose compost and plant from the centre using a good ball of colour then work your way outwards with the remaining plants. Firm lightly and water.

Health and safety advice: Take care when lifting. We recommend you always wear gloves when gardening.
