Description
Quick to establish, Tuffgrass provides good green cover and weed control whilst withstanding substantial wear and tear.
Suitability
For all lawns and play areas where resistance to wear and tear, together with value for money are important. An ideal mixture for overseeding in Spring or Autumn.
Species Used
Perennial Ryegrass, Strong Creeping Red Fescue.
Additional Requirements
To create and maintain a high quality lawn use an appropriate seedbed fertiliser before sowing. Once the lawn is established apply an appropriate lawn feed as required and overseed the lawn annually.
Sowing Dates
Sow between March and October. Young grass will appear within 14-21 days under good growing conditions.
Sowing Rates
New Lawn: 35g per sq. metre (1¼ oz per sq. yard)
Overseeding: 25g per sq. metre (¾ oz per sq. yard).
Mowing Height
New Lawn: When grass is 5-8cm (2-3in) high, cut for the first time. Trim lightly and gradually lower blades to an ideal cutting height of 25mm (1in).
Subsequent Cuts: Mow regularly but try not to remove more than a third of the growth at any one time.
