Favourite Office Plant of the Year 2025 Announced!

Whether you work in an office or from home, indoor plants have so many benefits - aiding both health and productivity.

  • Studies have shown that having plants in offices can raise productivity by up to 15%
  • Plants improve air quality by releasing oxygen while absorbing CO2 and other toxins.
  • They raise humidity levels and can reduce the number of dust particles in the air.
  • Plants make us feel happier and help to reduce our stress levels.
  • They also absorb noise, so can be a great natural barrier in open plan spaces.

Every year, independent organisation plants@work celebrate National Plants at Work Week in July. Part of this celebration is choosing an Office Plant of the Year from a hand-picked shortlist!

A selection of people from the horticultural and interior landscaping industries were asked for their top three houseplants from the selected list.

They chose from:

  1. Monstera Epipremnoides
  2. Strelitzia Nicolai – the white Bird of Paradise
  3. Scindapsus pictus 'Exotica’
  4. Alocasia ‘Frydek’ aka Elephant Ears
  5. Ficus benghalensis ‘Audrey’

And the winner is….
Strelitzia Nicolai – the white Bird of Paradise!

With Alocasia ‘Frydek’ aka Elephant Ears and Monstera Epipremnoides coming in second and third respectively.

What’s your favourite houseplant?
Many people have a favourite indoor plant – perhaps one that reminds them of their childhood, or an old faithful that’s really low-maintenance.

Some of our favourites at Longacres include:

Monstera Deliciosa aka Swiss Cheese Plant with heart-shaped, glossy, deep green leaves.

Alocasia Amazonica Polly with distinct 'V' shape, flat leaves with vein-like features which make a big visual impact.

Ficus Lyrata a robust, evergreen tree with glossy, dark green leaves

If you’re looking for a new houseplant for your home or office and need some inspiration, check out the houseplant department in any of our stores. You can also shop online from our selection of over 70 specimens.
