An upright shrub which produces shallow, cup-shaped, rich golden-yellow flowers with prominent central yellow stamens from early summer. These are then followed by deep red fruit maturing to black.
It likes sun or partial shade, well drained soil and is happy in acid (ericaceous), alkaline or neutral soil.
